The hybrid inverter MultiPlus 12/2000/80-30 — is a flagship multifunctional device from the Victron Energy line, in the compact casing of which three systems harmoniously coexist: a powerful 2000 VA (1600 W) sine wave inverter, a high-performance 12 V charger at 80 A, and an automatic input source transfer switch with full support for intelligent energy storage and management systems (ESS).
The device is designed for use in autonomous, backup, grid, and hybrid power supply systems. Scalability is one of the key advantages: multiple devices are easily combined into parallel systems with a maximum single-phase power of 30 kVA or into three-phase installations with a capacity of up to 90 kVA.
Thanks to patented PowerControl and PowerAssist functions, the hybrid inverter MultiPlus 12/2000/80-30 is an exemplary choice for solar power plants, emergency backup systems, autonomous energy supply for residential homes, commercial enterprises, and mobile transport.
Key advantages of the MultiPlus Compact inverter
In most technical characteristics given below, this device is ahead of competing European analogues and significantly surpasses the budget offerings of Asian manufacturers.
- Power – nominal: 2000 VA / 1600 W, peak: 4000 W — easily copes with starting loads requiring significant starting currents: pumps, compressors, electrical heating elements.
- True 230 V sine wave – flawless, completely clean power for all sensitive consumers without exception.
- High efficiency up to 93% — highly efficient conversion with minimal heat losses and insignificant casing heating even under prolonged load operation.
- Ultra-low consumption without load – up to 3 W in Search Mode — in the absence of consumers, the device goes into load search mode, practically without wasting battery resources.
- Wide operating input voltage range 9.5–17 V – optimized for LiFePO4 batteries. The charging algorithm and inverter parameters are easily configured for the vast majority of common types of both lithium and lead-acid batteries.
- Operability in the temperature range -40…+65°C – the device maintains full stability in Arctic frosts and tropical heat, high humidity, and dustiness. Works equally well as part of the onboard systems of cars and yachts, in outdoor telecommunications cabinets, and unheated rooms.
- Compatibility with generators of any type – gasoline, diesel, inverter, and gas. The device features a rich set of tuning parameters for optimal joint operation with any generating unit. The function of automatic control of starting and stopping the generator based on battery charge level indicators is implemented.
- Expandable system of additional options and accessories — provides capabilities for remote monitoring, control, parameter reprogramming, and firmware updates via the internet and PC.
- VRM cloud monitoring system — full control over your entire power system at any time. Flexible notification settings: PUSH messages to a smartphone on power failure, battery drop to a set threshold, starting or stopping the generator, and any other events. Each event can serve as a trigger to launch automated control scenarios.
Technological features
1. Two completely independent alternating current outputs
The first output – the main, uninterrupted one: supplies voltage to all critical loads without the slightest delay, even when external power completely disappears.
The second output – additional, auxiliary: active exclusively when power is available from the external grid or a connected generator. It is advisable to connect loads to it that should not discharge the battery during a power outage (boilers, car charging stations, etc.).
2. PowerControl – intelligent control of grid consumption
The user sets the maximum allowable value of the current consumed by the inverter from the external grid or generator. The device automatically and continuously distributes the available power: powering the loads is the priority, and battery charging is performed from the remainder, never exceeding the set limit.
3. PowerAssist – compensation of consumption peaks using the battery
At the moment of a sharp load jump that a weak generator or city grid cannot handle, the inverter immediately connects the battery as a source of additional power. After the peak consumption drops, the system returns to normal operation and continues charging the battery.
4. Full integration with solar generation systems
MultiPlus works equally effectively both in hybrid and fully autonomous (off-grid) solar systems. It supports joint work with Victron MPPT charge controllers and grid PV inverters in modes of priority self-consumption, emergency backup, and full disconnection from the power grid.
5. Remote monitoring and control
Connecting the inverter to Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX system controllers (or via the VE.Bus Smart Dongle wireless module via Bluetooth) opens full access to manage and view system parameters via the VRM cloud portal from anywhere in the world.
6. Remote system configuration
Using the VRM portal or directly connecting a personal computer via an MK3-USB adapter, at any convenient time you can change any configurable parameter of the inverter: threshold voltages, operating modes, current limits, programmable relay logic, and other functions.
7. Parallel operation and three-phase systems
Parallel combination of up to 6 inverters into a single high-power single-phase system is possible, as well as the construction of a full-fledged three-phase configuration from 3 inverters (with the option of parallel connection of multiple devices on each phase). An ideal solution for production enterprises, agricultural facilities, and autonomous mini-power plants.
Use cases
- Autonomous and backup power supply for private housing and cottages
- Office and retail buildings — backup and tariff plan optimization
- Agricultural farms and agro-industrial complexes — powering pumps, fans, and refrigeration units
- Yachts and boats, campers and motorhomes – total energy independence at any point of the journey
- Production shops and workshops – powerful stable power supply for industrial equipment
- Hybrid solar power plants (ESS) – comprehensive integration with PV inverters and battery systems
- Backup power for critical infrastructure facilities (security and fire alarms, telecommunications equipment, server rooms)
Has the ECE R10-4 (EMC) electromagnetic compatibility standard
ECE R10-4 – is an internationally recognized standard for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) governing the use of electronic equipment on vehicles. The standard normalizes the maximum permissible level of electromagnetic interference radiated by the device and sets requirements for its immunity to external electromagnetic influences.
What does the ECE R10-4 certificate mean for Victron Energy inverters?
Low level of electromagnetic radiation
– Inverters do not generate radio frequency interference that could disrupt the operation of onboard radio communications, GPS navigation systems, mobile networks, or other electronics of a car, yacht, and industrial equipment.
High resistance to electromagnetic interference
– Inverters maintain stable operability under conditions of powerful electromagnetic fields or sharp voltage surges typical of trucks, buses, and construction equipment.
Safe integration into transport systems
– Complies with the requirements of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), which confirms the right to mount inverters in passenger cars, campers, marine vessels, and other vehicles without the slightest threat to the operation of the standard control unit, ABS system, and other electronic transport safety systems.
Guarantee of quality and compliance with international standards
– ECE R10-4 compliance is official evidence that Victron Energy products have passed a full set of rigorous tests and fully meet international safety requirements for use in transport systems.
What does this give users of Inverter Smart inverters?
- Legal operation of inverters as part of vehicles without the need to pass additional certifications.
- Full electromagnetic compatibility with onboard systems – no interference for radio stations, navigation, autopilot, GPS, and other electrical appliances.
- Reliable operation in extreme conditions – marine transport, residential trailers, commercial vehicles, construction, and special equipment.
- Resistance to electromagnetic induction – the inverter does not fail during sharp voltage changes in the vehicle's onboard electrical network.
Communication interfaces
-
