The MultiPlus 48/1600/20-16 hybrid inverter is a high-tech multifunctional device that combines a sine wave inverter, an intelligent charger, and a high-speed automatic transfer switch (ATS) in one compact housing. Thanks to proprietary PowerAssist and PowerControl technologies, the device efficiently compensates for the power shortage of the grid source or generator, preventing emergency overloads.
This model is designed for integration into off-grid and backup power systems, private houses, small businesses, as well as for the electrification of campers and marine transport. The inverter is an ideal foundation for a solar power plant, ensuring smart distribution and conservation of energy from the grid, generator, battery, and photovoltaic panels via an external MPPT controller.
The VE.Bus interface allows scaling the system by combining multiple devices for parallel operation or building a full-fledged three-phase network as your energy needs grow.
Key Advantages of the MultiPlus Inverter
- "Three-in-one" concept: inverter, battery charger, and transfer switch – a comprehensive and reliable solution for uninterruptible power supply systems and solar generation.
- 1600 VA (1300 W) of nominal power – stable and clean power supply for highly sensitive equipment and household appliances.
- PowerAssist Technology – effective support for capacity-limited grids or generators using energy from accumulator batteries.
- PowerControl Function – smart limitation of current consumption from an external source to avoid tripping input circuit breakers.
- Smart 4-stage charging algorithm – significantly extends the life cycle of batteries of any type: from modern lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) to traditional lead-acid (AGM/GEL) and carbon batteries.
- VE.Bus for parallel and three-phase connection – the possibility of expanding the system by connecting up to 6 inverters for each operating phase.
- Multifunctional programmable relay – used for sending alarm signals or automatically controlling external equipment (e.g., automatic generator start).
- Energy-saving mode (Search Mode) – minimizes the inverter's own consumption at idle, reducing energy consumption up to 10 times compared to standard analogs!
- Global remote monitoring via VRM – full control and modification of system settings from anywhere on the planet.
Technological Features
PowerAssist – function of adding power to the grid or generator
-
This mode allows the MultiPlus to operate synchronously with an external power source (grid or generator set). In the event of peak loads exceeding the source limit, the inverter instantly mixes in the missing power from the batteries. This function is indispensable for yachts, motorhomes, and remote objects where the parameters of the incoming network are strictly limited.
PowerControl – intelligent management of incoming power
- Using the remote Digital Multi Control panel or the VRM cloud interface, the user can set a strict current limit for the generator or shore line. MultiPlus will analyze the total consumption of the facility (taking into account air conditioners, boilers, etc.) and dynamically adjust the battery charging current, completely eliminating the risk of input overload.
Intelligent battery charger (20 A)
- The adaptive four-stage charge ensures gentle and fast capacity recovery, adjusting voltage parameters to the current state of the batteries. An additional storage mode (Storage Mode) reduces plate degradation during equipment downtime and increases the service life of the cells.
VE.Bus for creating parallel and three-phase configurations
- The MultiPlus architecture guarantees flexible system power scaling. Synchronization of multiple inverters in parallel circuits or a three-phase network allows creating fault-tolerant power supply systems for large residences, commercial spaces, and production sites.
Information capabilities and remote control
- The device supports all modern communication channels: management is available via the local VictronConnect application, the global VRM portal, or system GX controllers (Cerbo GX, Color Control GX). The user always has detailed telemetry on the battery status, loads, and can remotely reprogram the system.
Fields of Application
-
Off-grid energy – stable power supply in solar and hybrid stations, full integration with Net.Billing mechanisms and the "green" tariff.
-
Camping and life on wheels – organization of a reliable electrical network in motorhomes, trailers, and expedition vans during travel.
-
Marine transport – uninterruptible power supply for onboard electronics and navigation systems on yachts and boats; the protected circuitry is resistant to difficult operating conditions.
-
Backup for the private sector – instant transition to battery operation in case of network accidents, automatic startup/shutdown of the fuel generator, PUSH notifications to the phone about events in the system when using GX modules.
-
Industrial sector – ensuring guaranteed high-quality power supply to critical consumers, including three-phase loads.
Certified to Automotive EMC Standard ECE R10-5 (EMC)
ECE R10-5 is a strict international electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standard developed for electronic components and systems mounted on vehicles. It strictly regulates the device's own emission level and its degree of protection against external electromagnetic fields.
What does certification to the ECE R10-5 standard mean for Victron Energy equipment?
Minimal electromagnetic footprint level
– An operating inverter does not create high-frequency noise or interference capable of disrupting the correct operation of onboard radio stations, GPS receivers, cellular communication modules, or other sensitive electronics of the vehicle and vessel.
Increased resistance to external interference
– The power part of the device operates without failure under conditions of unstable onboard voltage, impulse current surges, and strong magnetic fields, which is critically important for special machinery, trucks, and passenger buses.
Safe integration into the vehicle's stock wiring
– Full compliance with UN ECE rules guarantees that the inverter can be mounted in modern cars and yachts without the risk of disrupting the operation of standard control units, onboard computers, and safety systems (such as ABS, ESP, etc.).
Official confirmation of premium quality
– Successful completion of tests according to the ECE R10-5 standard proves that Victron Energy products are designed according to the highest international standards of safety and reliability for mobile applications.
What does this give to owners of Inverter Smart equipment?
- The possibility of legal installation of the device in vehicles without the risk of losing the factory warranty or the need to pass complex additional expertise.
- Ideal neighborhood with other equipment – a complete absence of interference on the screens of echo sounders, navigation monitors, autopilots, and audio systems.
- Long-lasting operation in the harshest operating conditions – on commercial vehicles, expedition equipment, and small vessels.
- High level of hardware protection – the inverter is protected from failure during sharp drops or surges in the vehicle's power supply grid.
Communication and Integration Interfaces
- System VE.Bus port – allows combining Victron Energy products into a single ecosystem, as well as organizing a full-fledged data exchange with lithium batteries from Pylontech, Sacred Sun, Sunlight, and batteries from dozens of other global brands.
- Programmable dry contact (relay) – opens up wide possibilities for automation, for example, starting a backup generator when a critical level of battery discharge is reached.
- Support for the VE.Bus Smart dongle module (option) – adds a wireless Bluetooth interface for quick monitoring and precise adjustment of all inverter operating parameters from a smartphone.
- VE.Bus to USB cable (option) – designed for direct connection to a PC for deep configuration and firmware updates via service utilities.
