The hybrid inverter MultiPlus 12/3000/120-16 — is a high-performance inverter-charger solution from Victron Energy, structurally combining three functional elements in a single compact unit at once: a high-performance 3000 VA (2400 W) sine wave inverter, a powerful 12 V charger at 120 A, and a built-in automatic source transfer switch with support for intelligent energy management systems (ESS).
The device is intended for operation as part of autonomous, backup, grid, and hybrid power supply systems. Scaling is easy: the devices are combined into parallel single-phase systems with a total power of up to 30 kVA or into three-phase configurations with an aggregate output power of up to 90 kVA.
Patented PowerControl and PowerAssist technologies turn the hybrid inverter MultiPlus 12/3000/120-16 into a benchmark tool for solar power plants, emergency backup systems, autonomous power supply of housing, commercial enterprises, and mobile objects.
Key advantages of the MultiPlus inverter
The majority of technical characteristics of this model surpass competing offers from other European manufacturers and leave budget Asian analogues far behind.
- Power – nominal: 3000 VA / 2400 W, peak: 6000 W — confident starting of heavy loads with high starting currents: pumps, compressors, industrial power tools.
- True 230 V sine wave – flawless and completely safe power for all sensitive consumers without exception.
- High efficiency up to 93% — highly efficient conversion with minimal heat loss and insignificant casing heating even during prolonged operation under load.
- Economical standby mode – up to 8 W in Search Mode — without a load, the inverter enters search mode, practically without expending battery resources.
- Wide operating input voltage range 9.5–17 V – optimized for LiFePO4 batteries. At the same time, the charger and inverter easily adapt to the vast majority of lithium and lead-acid batteries.
- Operability in the temperature range -40…+65°C – the device does not lose stability either in frost or in tropical heat. Installation is permitted in the onboard systems of cars and yachts, in outdoor telecommunication cabinets, and unheated facilities.
- Compatibility with generators of any type – gasoline, diesel, inverter, and gas. The device features an extensive set of parameters for fine-tuning joint operation with any generator unit, including an automatic control function for starting and stopping it based on battery charge level readings.
- Rich ecosystem of additional options — provides capabilities for remote monitoring, remote control, reprogramming, and firmware updates over the internet.
- VRM cloud platform — full control over the energy system 24/7. Set up PUSH notifications about power failure from the grid, battery depletion to the required level, automatic generator start, and any other events. Each of them can trigger an automated control scenario.
Technological features
1. Two independent alternating current outputs
The first output – priority, uninterrupted: provides power to all critical loads without the slightest delay even when the external grid completely disappears.
The second output – auxiliary: active exclusively when power is present from the external grid or an operating generator. Designed for non-essential loads (boilers, chargers) that do not require power during an emergency.
2. PowerControl – smart grid overload protection
The user sets the maximum allowable value of the current consumed from the city grid or generator. The inverter continuously and automatically manages the balance: powering loads is the priority, battery charging — from the remaining reserve, strictly not exceeding the specified limit.
3. PowerAssist – instantaneous compensation of consumption peaks
As soon as the total load exceeds the capabilities of the grid or generator, the inverter immediately brings the battery into operation as an additional power source. After the peak load drops, the system automatically resumes the standard battery charging mode.
4. Full support for solar systems
MultiPlus organically functions as part of hybrid and fully autonomous (off-grid) photovoltaic installations. Joint operation with Victron MPPT controllers and grid PV inverters is supported in modes of self-consumption, backup, and complete disconnection from the power grid.
5. Remote monitoring and control
Connecting the inverter to Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX system controllers (or via the VE.Bus Smart Dongle module over Bluetooth) opens up full remote access for control and parameter viewing via the VRM cloud portal from anywhere in the world.
6. Remote configuration of parameters
Using the VRM portal or by directly connecting a PC through the MK3-USB adapter, any parameter of the inverter can be changed at any time: voltage settings, operating modes, current limits, programmable relay logic, and other functions.
7. Parallel operation and three-phase configurations
Parallel combination of up to 6 inverters into a single powerful single-phase system is available. It is also possible to build a fully fledged three-phase configuration from 3 inverters with support for parallel operation of several devices in each phase. This is an ideal solution for industrial enterprises and mini-power plants.

Has the ECE R10-4 (EMC) electromagnetic compatibility standard
ECE R10-4 – is an international standard for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) that determines the requirements for electronic equipment used on vehicles. The document standardizes the maximum allowable levels of radiated electromagnetic interference and sets requirements for the device's immunity to external electromagnetic influences.
What does the ECE R10-4 certificate mean for Victron Energy inverters?
Low level of electromagnetic radiation
– Victron inverters do not generate radio frequency interference that could disrupt onboard radio communications, GPS navigation systems, mobile networks, or other electronic components of a car, yacht, or industrial transport.
High resistance to electromagnetic interference
– Inverters maintain full operability under the influence of powerful electromagnetic fields and sharp voltage surges characteristic of freight, agricultural, and construction transport.
Safe integration into onboard electrical systems
– Compliance with UNECE (ECE) regulations provides the full legal right to mount inverters in passenger cars, campers, marine vessels, and any other transport without the risk of disrupting the engine control unit, ABS system, and other safety systems.
Confirmed compliance with international quality standards
– The presence of the ECE R10-4 certificate confirms that Victron Energy equipment has passed all established laboratory tests and fully meets international safety requirements for transport applications.
What does this give users of Inverter Smart inverters?
- Fully legal operation on vehicles without passing additional certification procedures.
- Electromagnetic compatibility with onboard systems – the inverter does not interfere with radio stations, navigation, autopilot, GPS, and other electrical appliances.
- Stable and reliable operation in the harshest conditions – on marine vessels, in residential trailers, commercial and special transport.
