Pre-Charge Cable — is a specialized protective accessory from Victron Energy designed for the safe connection of high-capacity batteries (especially lithium ones) to power inverters and chargers. Its main task is the smooth equalization of potentials between the battery and the inverter capacitors before closing the main breaker.
When directly connecting a powerful inverter to a battery, a massive inrush current occurs, which can cause a strong spark, contact burning, and even damage to electronics (BMS or inverter input stages). The pre-charge cable contains a built-in resistor that limits this current, ensuring a soft and safe start of the system.
